Our client, a world-leading internet and technology company in Mainland China, is a Hong Kong listed company, and their team is looking for a suitable candidate. They are seeking an Internation Privacy Legal Counsel to provide consulting services for their privacy compliance program.

This professional will deliver advice on privacy issues related to their products, develop policies and procedures, conduct privacy risk assessments in collaboration with internal business teams, and ensure compliance with privacy legal requirements aligned with global laws and industry best practices.

Job Duties:

  • Provide legal advice and ongoing support on privacy matters for the international business.
  • Consult on compliance with international privacy laws and regulations, including data protection, data security, and data breach guidelines.
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with international data privacy standards and personal information collection regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and PDPO/PDPA.
  • Manage legal privacy projects in collaboration with external counsel.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage legal and business documents.
  • Analyze global privacy legal requirements and trends, keeping internal business teams updated on new laws and regulations that may affect Tencent.

Requirements:

  • A qualified lawyer with at least 3 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in common law jurisdictions, with experience in law firms and/or in-house
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating in a team environment.
  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and CIPM certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Experience handling privacy issues related to international business. Experience designing and implementing international privacy compliance programs is preferred. Familiarity with China’s PIPL is a plus.
  • A strong interest in the internet and gaming industries.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proactive with the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exceptional multilingual abilities.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English and Chinese.
